Finale, Academy Award Winners, and Scott’s Predictions

Of course the big news surrounding the 83rd Academy Awards is the accuracy of Finale Blogger Scott Yoho’s Oscar predictions. This year Scott’s forecasting was 100% accurate. On February 11, 2011, he predicted that Toy Story 3 (a film in which Finale was used) would win best Animated Feature Film, and it did. He made no other predictions.

Toy Story 3 also won for Music/Original Song for Randy Newman’s “We Belong Together.” Other Academy Award-winning films in which Finale played a part include:

  • The King’s Speech won Best Picture, Actor in a Leading Role (Colin Firth), Directing (Tom Hooper), and Writing/Original Screenplay (David Siedler).
  • Black Swan won Actress in a Leading Role (Natalie Portman).
  • Inception won awards for Cinematography (Wally Pfister), Sound Editing (Richard King), Sound Mixing (Lora Hirschberg, Gary A. Rizzo, and Ed Novick), and Visual Effects (Paul Franklin, Chris Corbould, Andrew Lockley, and Peter Bebb).
  • The Wolfman won for Makeup (Rick Baker and Dave Elsey).

“I’m pretty excited about the outcome,” stated Scott Yoho. “I can’t imagine that many Oscar prognosticators can boast 100% accuracy. I credit my success to the greatness of Pixar and Randy Newman, as well as to my personal philosophy of choosing obtainable goals.”

Seriously, we’d like to congratulate all the winners and nominees, whether they used Finale or not. Please click on “Comments” below and let us know what Finale project you’re working on (it helps with our future predications)!
